The light green flesh of kiwano has a jelly-like texture. The flavour is reminiscent of banana, kiwi and lime.
Cooking: Try scooping out the flesh with a spoon. Keep the skin to use as a quirky serving dish. Add the flesh to smoothies, salsas, and dressings. (Press through a sieve if you want to remove the seeds).
Serve over vanilla ice cream or mix with yoghurt for a twist on a raita.
