Stocking Stuffers

1
Le Comptoir de Matilde

In 2007 Richard Fournier opened a shop in honour of his grandmother’s recipes…now with stores across France you can find their sumptuous Baba au Rhum: tiny cakes soaked in liquor

2

The perfect stocking stuffer: Joanna’s chocolates have won fourteen Great Taste Awards and a Silver Academy of Chocolate Award. Each bite is packed with flavour so each small bar lasts.

3
Honest yolk Eggnog

A twist on a traditional favourite but put away your stove pans… this milk-based cocktail with rum and cognac is meant to be drunk cold. Stand aside Bailey’s–this is wonderfully boozy.

4

It all started when Leonardo bought an oven in a small mountain village in Tuscany. We’ve stocked lots to choose from but start with the “Brutti ma Buoni” (Ugly but Good) biscotti with almonds

Beautifully wrapped in our signature green & pink, three of our favourite luxury hampers this season.

Panzer’s rarely does anything by halves… and when is a better time to push the boat out than Christmas? This is full of classics from Panettone to mince pies as well as carefully selected culinary treasures. The hamper to keep you afloat all holiday long.

This has as much festive cheese as sweet Christmas treats, posing as the ultimate feast finisher. Traditionally hand-ladled stilton crowns any Christmas table and is complemented perfectly by our mince pies.

Perfectly balanced between luxurious, traditional and sumptuous, this hamper ticks every box as a gift to spoil someone this Christmas. With champagne, sticky toffee pudding, smoked salmon and a selection of truly special cheeses, this is a treat for the whole family.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Our employee of the year is our dear Bianca! These continue to be challenging times for hospitality & retail – from staff shortages to constant Brexit changes, difficulty securing parts for equipment around the store to constantly changing orders & delivery logistics. But within Panzer’s, Bianca has stepped up to help tackle many of these, always gracefully and with creativity. A natural listener, she can sooth her colleagues and solve customer concerns. A perfectionist to the extreme and stubborn as cement, we swear she has eyes at the back of her head as nothing goes amiss when she is in store. As Panzer’s undertakes exciting new projects for next year, we’re so lucky to have her as our assistant store manager. Bianca, this is your favourite time of year in the shop so we wanted to extend you an extra dose of Christmas thanks.

Our famous Scottish smoked salmon has been hand-sliced on site since 1944. Ideal from breakfast to brunch and lunch to dinner, try it in a bagel, with scrambled eggs, in your pasta dishes or with asparagus and hollandaise. Our pre-sliced sides of salmon are perfect for a party or for the family over the holidays.

Some grapes are simply better blended (Chateauneuf-du-Pape can have up to 13 different grape varieties!) These are two special favourites for pairing with a traditional Christmas dinner.

Château Lamothe-Bouscaut, Pessac-Léognan 2019
Rich, dry and refreshing; nettles, sweet nutmeg and beeswax.

Château Louvie, St-Émilion Grand Cru 2020
Smooth, scented and elegant; red plum, mocha, tobacco.

Seasonal report

LEAFY CLEMENTINES – These hybrids of mandarin and sweet oranges are a festive table favourite and with good reason. They are a taste of sunnier climates in the cold winter months (and a welcome, potent dose of vitamin C). They aren’t the only citrus to grace our shelves this month: look for a wide range of mandarins, tangerines, satsumas and classic oranges. And be sure to indulge your December sweet tooth with Nigella’s wonderful Clementine Cake, recipe available on her website.

BRUSSELS SPROUTS – Never has there been a more divisive vegetable… but it is safe to say brussels sprouts are a beloved staple of the British holiday table (according to the RHS, the area covered by sprout fields in the UK is the equivalent of 3,240 football pitches.)

We recommend trying Ottolenghi’s Brussels Sprouts with burnt butter and black garlic recipe (black garlic is a flavour boost of an ingredient we can’t get enough of).

PARSNIPS – The humble parsnip, cousin of the carrot and the closest thing the vegetable family has to a dessert. Before sugarcane, Europeans used parsnips as a natural sweetener. Best when roasted, serve simply tossed with runny honey and butter. Or try Martha Stewart’s Parsnip Onion Tarte Tatin in those blissful lost days between Christmas and New Year.
ALSO IN SEASON

Cabbages, Cavolo Nero, Cauliflower, Celeriac, Cranberries, Dates, Grapefruit, Jerusalem Artichoke, Kale, Quince, Parnsips, Pumpkin, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Radicchio, Squash, Swede, Black & White Truffles, Wild Mushrooms
